The Ramayan is one of the largest ancient epics in world literature. It consists of nearly 24,000 verses (mostly set in the Shlokas), divided into seven kāaṇḍas, the first and the seventh being later additions.The epic, traditionally ascribed to the Maharishi Valmiki, narrates the life of Ram, a legendary prince of Ayodhya city in the kingdom of Kosala.This epic poem Ramayan is a “Smriti स्मृति” which is translated as "from memory".
Valmiki Ramayan is composed of verses called Sloka (श्लोक),These verses are grouped into individual chapters called Sarga (सर्ग), wherein a specific event or intent is told.These chapters or sargas are grouped into books called Kaandas (कांड).Valmiki Ramayan is arranged into six Kaands.

Ramcharitmanas (Devanagari: श्रीरामचरितमानस Rāmacaritamānasa), is an epic poem in the Awadhi language, composed by the 16th-century Indian bhakti poet Tulsidas (c. 1532–1623). रामचरितमानस अवधी भाषा में गोस्वामी तुलसीदास द्वारा १६वीं सदी में रचित प्रसिद्ध ग्रन्थ है। इस ग्रन्थ को अवधी साहित्य (हिंदी साहित्य) की एक महान कृति माना जाता है। इसे सामान्यतः 'तुलसी रामायण' या 'तुलसीकृत रामायण' भी कहा जाता है। रामचरितमानस के नायक राम हैं जिनको एक मर्यादा पुरोषोत्तम के रूप में दर्शाया गया है जोकि अखिल ब्रह्माण्ड के स्वामी हरि नारायण भगवान के अवतार है जबकि महर्षि वाल्मीकि कृत रामायण में राम को एक आदर्श चरित्र मानव के रूप में दिखाया गया है। गोस्वामी जी ने रामचरित का अनुपम शैली में दोहों, चौपाइयों, सोरठों तथा छंद का आश्रय लेकर वर्णन किया है। यह रामचरितमानस का भी एक अच्छा स्रोत है, यह पूरी कहानी के लिए पुराने wikisource page के archive.org के संग्रह का उपयोग करता है।अधिक जानकारी के लिए कृपया निम्न लिंक पर जाएँ।
